Men's Wrestling Clinches AAC Regular Season Title with Win at Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. --- The second-ranked Life University men's wrestling team competed in the penultimate dual of the season Friday morning, blanking Brewton-Parker on the road 42-0 to clinch the 2022-23 Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season Title.
Life U (9-2, 6-0 ACC) stays undefeated in conference play with only one dual contest remaining on the schedule.
The match started at 133 lbs. as neither team sent out a 125 lbs. wrestler, but the Running Eagles got off to a quick start,
Chase Ayers earning a pin in 2:10 to ge the team off to a 6-0 lead. The first of Life U's four tech falls came in the next bout,
Jordan Mitchell handling his opponent by a score of 17-0 in the second period. At 149 lbs., one of the only non-bonus point victories came, Logan Reeves coming out on top in an 8-2 decision to push the lead to 14-0.
The middle of the dual, saw things continue to go strongly in Life U's favor,
Alexander Couto pulling off a 16-0 tech fall, while
Tyler Helfrich-Meyers followed him up with an impressive 13-0 major decision. Tyler Brandt put the score completely out of reach at 174 lbs., pinning his opponent in just 3:45 to see the score at 29-0.
A pair of tech falls came up next,
Myles Starke bullying his adversary in a quick 16-0 tech, and
Timothy Barr doing much the same in a 17-1 victory. Life U kept the score sheet clean in the final bout,
Spencer Dacus pulling off a hard-fought 3-0 decision to give the final of 42-0.Â
Tomorrow the Running Eagles take part in their final conference dual of the season, facing St. Thomas on the road at 9 AM.
