Running Eagles Finish Dual Season with 39-6 Victory at St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- The No. 2 Life University men's wrestling team competed in its final dual of the season this morning, finishing their perfect Appalachian Athletic Conference season with a victory over (RV) St. Thomas 39-6.

Life U split the first four matches with St. Thomas, taking close decision losses at 133 and 149 lbs. The Running Eagles victories over the opening stretch came via a dominant Adrian Morales 15-4 major decision victory at 125 lbs and Jordan Mitchell receiving a medical forfeit at 141 lbs to see the score at 10-6 early. 

The rest of the match went fully in the Running Eagles favor, Steven Villalobos earning the first of the team's three pins at the beginning of the second period of his match. Tyler Helfrich-Meyers followed at 165 lbs., besting his foe in a 6-4 decision as the lead expanded to 19-6. Life U's second major decision of the day came at 174 lbs., Tre Morrisette dominating his opponent on his way to a 17-5 victory.

Life U cut all three of the final matches short, Asher Eichert starting the stretch with a high scoring 23-6 tech fall in five minutes. At 197 lbs., Timothy Barr put in work, downing his adversary in just 4:15 for the win via fall. The fastest match of the day came last, Spencer Dacus recording a pin in just 0:48 to give the final score of 39-6.

With the end of conference dual season, the Running Eagles now prepare for the AAC Tournament which they host next weekend, February 18th in the Eagles' Nest.
