Men's Rugby Comes Up Short in Second Half For 17-7 Loss at Lindenwood
Men's Rugby /
ST. CHARLES, Mo. --- The Life University men's rugby team held pace with USA Rugby D1A Mid-South Conference rival Lindenwood for 60 minutes on the road for a chilly Saturday afternoon, but a pair of late scores saw them come up short 17-7.

Linenwood put the first points of the afternoon on the scoreboard, taking an early 7-0 lead. The Running Eagles found a response, going to where they have found success again and again this Spring season. A line out led into a Life U maul that quickly worked its way toward the try area. After Lindenwood illegally collapsed the maul, a penalty try was awarded to the Running Eagles to see the game tied at 7-7 in the 26th minute. Both teams found opportunities to score over the remainder of the first half, but neither were able to finish the deal to see the teams go into the break tied 7-7.

The first 20 minutes of the second half saw the teams continue their back-and-forth struggle, but just past the 60th minute a quick set led into a quick Lindenwood score, giving the Lions back the lead 12-7. Another quick Lindenwood score came a couple of minutes later, to give the home team a 17-7 lead, missing the conversion as the weather continued to impact the game. The Running Eagle created chances to score, but were unable to tap down another try, losing 17-7.

The Running Eagles return home for their next contest, facing Davenport University next Saturday at 1 PM in an event that will be broadcast live through FloRugby.
