ST. CHARLES, Mo. --- The Life University men's rugby program's 15's season comes to a close in the CRAA D1A Elite Quarterfinals, suffering a 29-8 loss on the road at two-seed Lindenwood Sunday afternoon.
The game was pushed back from its original Saturday evening start due to inclement weather, seeing the team's meet on a blustery day in Missouri. Lindenwood secured the first try of the day within the first 10 minutes of the game, but it did not take long for Life U to respond, a penalty setting
Bradley Crane up for a penalty kick to narrow the deficit to 5-3. After another Lions' score, the Running Eagles again responded to keep things close midway through the first half.
Orrin Bizer picked up a loose ball near the fifty meter, and raced all the way down the field to tap down the long try as the score stood at 12-8 after 23 minutes of play. Two more tries for Lindenwood before the half saw the teams go into the break, Life U trailing 26-8.
The Running Eagles' defensive efforts kept the other side out of the try area, but in a three try deficit Life U could not take advantage to cut into the lead. With 10 minutes to play the last score of the game was recorded by the Lions, a penalty kick giving the final score of 29-8.
With the end of the 15's season, the Running Eagles now turn their attention to 7's, taking part in the CRAA National 7's Tournament in Houston, Texas from May 5th-7th.
