MARIETTA, Ga. --- The Life University women's rugby team got its sevens season underway Saturday afternoon, hosting the Life U 7's Tournament where they went 2-1 at Lupo Family Field.
The Life U first side played the first match of the day, facing the second side from Lindenwood and quickly jumped out to a lead in the first seven minutes. The Running Eagles did a great job of finding open space and cutting up field, while keeping Lindenwood boxed up on their side of the field on the team's way to a 33-5 victory. Up next for Life U, the team faced off against Penn State. The home squad picked up where they left off from their last contest as they cruised to a 40-0 victory. Life U faced the Lindenwood first side in the final match of the day. The game was low scoring and tightly contested, but trailing late, the Running Eagles were unable to bridge the gap, suffering their only loss of the day 15-10.
In the Life U's second sides three matches, they went 1-2. Both losses came to Lindenwood, falling 25-0 to the first side and 22-0 to the second side. The Running Eagles' victory came against the Life Alumni, dominating on their way to a 43-0 victory.
The Running Eagles next hit the road to take part in Tropical 7's in Orlando, Fla. from April 7th-8th.
