MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University men's and women's swim team competed in a duel against Thomas University this Saturday in Marietta, Ga.

The women's team were able to take home a win and many first place finishes. 

The Women's team finished in first place in eight out of the fourteen events held Saturday. Kyleigh Shonk started off strong with an early first place win in the 100 yard Back (59.64).  

There were also first place finishes from Dora Reizinger in the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:15.70), Sophia Carneiro in the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:09.11), Seema Chavis in the 200 yard Freestyle (2:07.17) and 100 yard freestyle (58.37), and Nathalia Bento in 50 yard freestyle (25.28).

The women's team also took home a first place finish in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay which was held by Reizinger, Chavis, Shonk, and Bento (3:47.82). They also took home the first place finish in the 200 yard Medley Relay which was held by Shonk, Carneiro, Bento and Megan Cronje (1:54.49).

Overall, the men finished first in eight out of the 14 events. Mate Dort started off with a first place finish and a broken record in the 1650 yard Freestyle with the time 15:58.57.

Mate Dort had another great weekend and placed first in the 200 and 500 yard Freestyle (1:47.34 & 4:45.19). Brother Bence Dort also had a fantastic dual, finishing in first place in the 100 yard butterfly (51.83) and 200 yard Backstroke (1:58.97).  One other first place finish came from Tyron Klynhan in the 100 yard Breaststroke (58.62), and another one came from Bence Meresz in 100 yard Backstroke (50.67).

The men's team also took home a first place in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay which was held by Bence Meresz, Bence Dort, Tyron Klynhan, and Mate Dort

Up next, the Running Eagles will continue their 2023-2024 season at Point University on Saturday, January 27th at 11 AM.
