Swim Competes in Point Sprint Meet

WEST POINT, Ga. - The Life University men's and women's swim team competed in their last regular season meet of the regular season at the Point Sprint meet this Saturday.
With many teams in attendance, the Running Eagles started off with Bence Meresz, Sophia Carneiro, Rasmus Petersen, and Dora Reizinger finishing in second place in the Mixed 200 yard medley relay, less than a second behind Thomas University (Ga.).
For the women's team, Carneiro took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.69), also breaking her previous record in the 100 IM (1:03.53), and Nathalia Bento finished in first place in the 25 yard butterfly.
Overall, the women finished in second place out of the six teams in attendance. Seven swimmers scored points which included Bento (83 points), Carneiro (73), Kyleigh Shonk (68), Reizinger (63), Seema Chavis (58), Megan Cronje (31), and Gabrielle Mesler (12). Bento, Carneiro, Shonk, and Reizinger all placed in top ten, with Carneiro being in the top three.
For the men's team, Meresz took first place in the 50 yard butterfly (23.31), 50 yard breaststroke (26.57), and the 25 yard freestyle (9.09).
Overall, the men finished in fourth place out of five teams. Six swimmers scored points,led by Meresz (91.50), Peterson (66), Mate Dort (43), Ty Kylnhan (24), Meindert Dekkinga (22), and Tony Sirignano (3). Meresz and Petersen both placed in the top ten with Bence finishing in first place.
Up next, the Running Eagles travel to Columbus, Ga. to compete in the Sun Conference Championships.
