Swim Competes in Sun Conference Championships

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Life University men's and women's swim team competed in the Sun Conference Championships Thursday through Saturday.
Mate Dort had a successful third day claiming the only first place win from the Running Eagles in the Men's 1650 yard freestyle (15:50.07), taking the victory by three seconds from a SCAD swimmer. The Running Eagle also has earned a national A cut and comes back to Marietta as a champion.
Dort also picked up a third place finish in the 500 yard freestyle (4:35.24) and a close second place win in the 400 yard IM by only trailing by three seconds(4:03.30)
Also for the men's team, Bence Meresz was also able to add a third place win in the 200 IM (1:51.08) and earned second place in the 100 yard breaststroke (54.32) breaking a new team record.
Overall, the men came in seventh place out of the nine teams in attendance and acclaimed seven top five finishes throughout the entire championship.
For the women's team, no one was able to claim a top five finish, but Nathalia Bento was able to claim eighth in the 50 yard freestyle breaking a new team record of 24.07.
Kyleigh Shonk, Sophia Carneiro, Bento, and Megan Cronje finished in fifth in the 200 yard medley relay to start the championships.
Overall, the women came in seventh place out of the nine other teams in attendance.
Up next, the Running Eagles will wait to hear about potential individual invites to the NAIA Swim National Championship.
