CHAMPIONS: Women's Wrestling Claims MSC Tournament for Second Straight Year

BOWLING GREEN, KY. --- The Life University women's wrestling team claimed five individual titles out of the 10 weight classes as the Running Eagles pulled away to be crowned Mid-South Conference Tournament Champions.
The one-day tournament was held in Bowling Green, Kentucky as the Running Eagles topped the 10 team field with 187 total points followed by runner-up Indiana Tech with 134 points. Cumberlands (Ky.) was third with 134 points while Campbellsville recorded 127.5 points to place fourth.
Siena Heights (Mich.) was fifth with 62 points, Lourdes (Ohio.) tallied 61 points to finish sixth and Brewton-Parker (Ga.) was seventh with 33 points. St. Andrews was eighth with 31 points while Rochester (Mich.) and Montreat (N.C.) rounded out the team standings.
The Running Eagles had the most individual champions with five as Anna Krejsa (123), Sarah Savidge (130), Zaynah McBryde (136), Jamilah McBryde (143) and Latifah McBryde (155) all won individual titles.
Life U also saw Savidge and the eldest McBryde, Jamilah, get named Co-Wrestlers of the Year with J. McBryde also earning Wrestler of the Tournament honors.
Head Coach Ashley Flavin won MSC Coach of the Year for the second straight year, leading the Running Eagles to another regular season and tournament championship in the 2023-24 season.
Other top placements for Life U were 101-pounder Devyn Gomez who recorded 3rd, 109-pounder Diana Gonzalez who tallied 2nd, Ariana Martinez who grabbed 2nd, Angie Prado with a thrilling 3rd place finish, and Madeline Welch who earned a runner-up position in the 191 lb bracket.
Up next, the Running Eagles set their sights on the NAIA National Tournament with competition set to begin March 8th in Jamestown, North Dakota.
