Men's Rugby Celebrates Senior Day with Win over Penn State

MARIETTA, Ga. --- The Life University men's rugby closed their 2023-24 regular season home slate Saturday afternoon against Penn State, earning a 45-16 win to celebrate Senior Day.

The Running Eagles saw a combination of players record tries as Jeron Pantor led the charge with a hat trick. Recently nominated Rudy Sholz candidate Ishma-eel Safodien also delivered a solid performance with two tries while Sean Lenzsch scored the final try of the contest.

Bradley Crane was stellar all evening, knocking down all seven of his attempted kicks. The talented sharpshooter went 6/6 for try conversions and 1/1 in penalty conversions.

Director of Men's Rugby Blake Bradford spoke after the game, stating, "We were so honored to be able to celebrate a special senior class and give them one more win at home.  We are pleased by the result of the game, but we also know we haven't reached our full potential, We are excited to get back to work on Monday as we have a tough challenge ahead going out west to BYU next week.

He then continued , "What an incredible game by Jerry Pantor. The best I've seen him play and he is so dangerous ball in hand. And Mr. Consistent, Bradley Crane, going 7 from 7 off the tee."

Like mentioned above, the Running Eagles recognized 13 individuals as part of this year's senior class. Those seniors included: Keegan Taylor, Dave Rimes, Jay Allenby, Peter John Mataira, Matt and James Reed, Donovan and Darius Law, Gabe Michnya, Charlie Overton, Matthew Carrion, Jon Rodriguez, Bruce Stovell, and Ishmael Safodien.

The Running Eagles will next face BYU next weekend, traveling out west to compete in Utah at 4 pm est.
