Men's Basketball Advances to SSAC Championship Behind 38-Point Win Over Mobile

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Life University men's basketball team advanced to the SSAC Championship game with a 38-point win over Mobile on Friday afternoon. The win marks the first trip to the SSAC championship contest in program history. 

Life U blitzed Mobile to open the contest, jumping out to a 12 point lead behind a 18-6 run in the first six minutes. The offense continued to hammer away on the Mobile defense, eventually pushing the lead to 20 with 05:11 left to play in the half. By the time the dust settled in the first half, the Running Eagles boasted a 32 point lead behind 15 points from Chaze Harris and ten points from Dara Olonade. The offensive unit shot an impressive 63.33% from the floor in the half.

The half time break did little to cool off the Life U shooting as the Running Eagles continued to shoot over 50% from the floor in the second half. Waisting little time, the lead increased to 40 just four minutes into the second half as Life U continued to bury a defeated Mobile squad.

For the remaining 16 minutes of play, Life U continued to run away with the contest, closing out with a 90-52 win. 

Up next, the Running Eagles will face Middle Georgia on Saturday in SSAC Conference Championship at 7:30 p.m with an NAIA National bid on the line.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Chaze Harris led all scorers with 26 points, adding ten assists and nine rebounds.
--Tyreke Johnson, Cortez Johnson and Dara Olonade all scored in double figures.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Life U shot an astounding 63.33% from the floor in the first half.
--The Running Eagles shot over 50% from three while Mobile shot just 16.1% from beyond the arch.
