Running Eagles Compete at Don McGarey Invitational

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Life University Track and Field team took a short trip north to Kennesaw State for the Don McGarey Invitational this past weekend. The meet was highlighted by multiple NAIA A-Standard performances and ample top-ten finishes for the group.

Continuing her stellar form from the indoor season, Briana Campbell turned in an A-Standard time in the 200m, running a 23.69. Her time placed her second at the meet. She then joined Emeline Delaville, Najah Gibson and Laisha Hernandez for the 4x400 relay, where the team produced a B-Standard time of 3:53.05. Delaville went on to win the women's 1500m event, finishing in 4:42.90.

Darius Barge continued to impress, recording two different A-Standard distances. First, in the men's shot put, Barge placed third with a distance of 17.42m. Then in the men's discus, Barge recorded a best toss of 52.96 for a second place finish.

In the women's pole vault, Cameron Kelperis recorded a B-Standard height of 3.65m and a second place finish in the event. 

Samuel Piquant, Tilman Jedlitschka, Sammy Samuel and Wiaan Martin placed second with an automatic qualifying time of 40.62 in the men's 4x100m relay. In the 4x400m relay, the team of Sean Hewitt, Marvin Jean-Francois, Tilman Jedlitschka and Wiaan Martin recorded a B-Standard time of 3:15.31. Martin went on to earn a sixth place finish in the men's 800m (2.00.72) while teammate Alejandro Ramos joined him in the top ten with a 2:02.46 (eighth).

Winston Sanders earned a B-Standard distance in the men's discus, tossing 50.02m for a fifth place finish. Teammate Sanjuan Warner placed eighth with a distance of 46.96m.

Katelyn Mendoza earned a pair of top-ten finishes, placing ninth in the women's shot put (12.02m) and tenth in the women's discus (36.01m).

In the men's javelin, Abedelemejid Kerebo and Evan Lindabury placed seventh and eighth with Kerebo tossing 48.48m and Lindabury throwing 29.87m. Kerebo also placed ninth in the men's 1500m (4:11.44).

Najah Gibson and Sky Jones placed top ten in the women's 800m with Gibson running a 2:24.16 (eighth) while Jones raced to a 2:26.30 (tenth).

Braden Deal placed fifth in the men's high jump (1.92m) while teammate Zvinodaishe Bere placed sixth (1.87m).

Dagbjort Magnusdottir placed ninth in the women's 400m with a time of 58.90.

Caesare Giles Jr. earned two top-ten finishes with a seventh place time in the men's 110m hurdles (15.17) and ninth in the men's 100m (11.19). 

Samuel Piquant, Jamario Russell and Tobiloba Oniyide finished fifth, sixth and seventh in the men's 200m. Piquant turned in a 21.63 while Russell finished in 21.70 and Oniyide crossed in 21.87. In the men's 100m, Piquant placed fourth (10.77), Russell placed seventh (10.99) and Giles placed ninth (11.19).
