Barge & Koonce Toss Qualifying Distances as Track & Field Sends Seven to Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Life University Track and Field team traveled seven athletes to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational this past weekend. Throwers Darius Barge and Tara Koonce highlighted the meet as they both tossed qualifying marks in their respective events.

Barge tossed 17.10m in the men's shot put, an A-Standard distance that earned him fourth at the meet. Koonce tossed 52.70m in the women's hammer, earning her a B-Standard mark.

Additionally on the women's side, Cameron Kelperis recorded a best height of 3.55m in the pole vault while Diamond Atkins tossed 38.21m in the discus.

On the men's side, William Jones earned a top-ten finish in the long jump, placing eighth with a best jump of 7.13m. Wiaan Martin posted a 48.24 in the 400m dash.

Winston Sanders recorded a best toss of 43.03m in the men's discus while Barge recorded a 45.72m toss.

Up next, the team program gears up for the Southern States Athletic Conference meet, starting on Friday, April 25.
