Men's Track & Field Wins SSAC Outdoor Conference Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Life University men's track and field team claimed the 2025 SSAC Outdoor Championships title this past Saturday. The Running Eagles turned in 201.5 points with six conference champions and six runners-up. Nearly the entire meet was conducted on Saturday after storms canceled the majority of the Friday portion of the meet.
 
Daniel Williams won the 200m dash, running an A-Standard time of 20.63. Williams went on to claim the conference title in the 400m dash, turning in an A-Standard time of 47.10. Narrowly placing behind Williams was teammate Wiaan Martin in second with a 47.26, an A-Standard of his own.

Abedelemejid Kerebo claimed the 800m title after turning in 1:54.65 at the meet. 
 
Darius Barge claimed the conference title in the shot put with a qualifying distance of 16.69m. Teammate Geovanni Hawes placed second, earning all-conference honors with a mark of 15.57m. Barge went on to toss another B-Standard in the discus with a SSAC-best mark of 50.01m. Teammate Winston Sanders claimed third place and all-conference honors with a toss of 45.49m.

The throwers continued to be well represented as Aidan Campbell took home the gold in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.69m. Sanders once again claimed third, this time with a distance of 44.28m.
 


In the 110m hurdles, Daniel Persad nearly claimed the victory, placing second. His time of 14.95 was within .11 seconds of the winner.

Tobiloba Oniyide placed third in the 100m dash (10.48), earning an All-Conference honor. 

In the 400m hurdles, Sean Hewitt earned a second place finish with a B-Standard time of 53.40.

The Life U relay team placed second in the 4x100m, turning in a B-Standard time of 40.84. Similar to the 4x100m team, the Running Eagle relay team earned a second place finish in the 4x400m with a B-Standard time 3:13.29. 

William Jones recorded a qualifying distance of 7.31m in the long jump, earning fourth place at the meet.
 
Up next, the Running Eagles prepare to return to the Emory Qualifier in one of the final chances to qualify for the 2025 Outdoor National Meet.
