Track & Field Posts Multiple Standards in Final Opportunity to Qualify for Nationals

WOODSTOCK, Ga. - The Life University Track and Field team competed at home in the final qualification meet for Outdoor Nationals. Multiple athletes took full advantage of the last chance meet, posting standards despite the poor weather conditions.

Daniel Williams highlighted the meet for Life U, running an NAIA-best time of 10.06 in the men's 100m dash. The A-Standard time puts Williams nearly .1 seconds faster than second place. Teammate Andre Edwards also posted a qualifying time in the event, running an NAIA B-Standard time of 10.43.

Printassia Johnson recorded her first A-Standard mark of the season in the women's 400m. Her time of 54.21 is the fifth fastest in the NAIA this season and won her the event at the meet. 

Sean Hewitt earned a B-Standard mark of 52.71 in the men's 400m hurdles while also winning the event at the meet.

In the women's hammer, Tara Koonce tossed a B-Standard mark with a best distance of 53.78m. The distance is just .01m short of an A-Standard mark.

In the men's shot put, Darius Barge recorded a B-Standard mark with a best toss of 16.64m. Barge also went on to record an A-Standard distance in the men's discus with a mark of 53.89m. The toss moves him into seventh place in the NAIA.

Laisha Hernandez turned in a brilliant performance in the women's 400m hurdles, running an automatic qualifying time of 1:01.85. The time is the tenth fastest in the NAIA this season and all third place through tenth place times are separated by just over one second. 

Jordan Dave won the men's 200m dash, posting a 21.80.

Sky Jones claimed the win in the women's 800m with a time of 2:22.05. Jones also went on to win the women's high jump with a mark of 1.35m.

In the men's 400m dash, Jamario Russell picked up the win with a time of 49.02.

Abedelemejid Kerebo won the men's 800m, narrowly missing a B-Standard with a time of 1:53.54.
