Wrestling with Purpose: Life U Hosts Impressive Team Camp

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Life University Wrestling program continued to raise the bar this summer, hosting its first official Multi-Day Team Camp on June 15–17 in Marietta, Georgia. With 12 teams from across the Southeast, a total of 190 wrestlers, including 155 boys and 35 girls, the three-day camp has set a new standard for summer training.

From dual matchups to technical sessions and team-building moments, the Team Camp wasn't just about wrestling, it was about culture, connection, and competition. Teams from four different states (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama) brought intensity and purpose to every session.

"All I asked the teams was to bring effort. They brought it, we got better. I'm excited to see what these teams do next season," said Head Coach Omi Acosta.

A highlight of the weekend was the growing presence of female wrestlers. With 35 girls training alongside their teams, Life U reinforced its commitment to building opportunities for women in wrestling.

Camp Director Tre Horton shared, "We're proud to support the growth of girls' wrestling in the Southeast. This camp is proof that the movement is strong and getting stronger."

Coach Jake Laden, who recently joined the Life U coaching staff, added, "It was my second camp here at Life University. I was happy to be part of it, and working with the kids and coaches really made these past few days memorable."

Over three days, wrestlers competed in duals, learned from top-level coaching, and pushed themselves to new limits. The camp's structure gave teams a glimpse of the season ahead, and many left with smiles and plenty of notes for their upcoming summer training.

Coach Horton added, "We wanted this camp to be more than just reps and matches. We wanted athletes to walk away better teammates, better competitors, and more prepared."

Looking ahead, the Life U Wrestling program is preparing for more in 2025. With camps for individuals, college-bound wrestlers, and coaches, the growth continues:
