Nominations Opened for 6th Annual Hall of Fame Class

06.30.25

MARIETTA, Ga. — Life University Athletics has officially opened nominations for its 6th Annual Hall of Fame class, continuing the proud tradition of honoring individuals and teams who have significantly shaped the legacy and excellence of Life University Athletics.

"We've had fun honoring the past accomplishments of so many impactful people in the history of Life U Athletics," said Director of Athletics Jayme Pendergast. "The HOF represents those who have set a unique level of success, whether as a student-athlete, coach, or administrator.  I continue to look forward to bringing these individuals back to campus to celebrate their contributions, and hearing their stories of how Life U impacted their lives."

The 2025 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held earlier this year, honored a standout group of contributors:

  • Sammy Nyamongo (Men's Cross Country & Track and Field): A 15-time NAIA All-American and 7-time national champion, Nyamongo helped lead the Running Eagles to multiple NAIA titles in the late 1990s. Originally selected in 2020, he was formally inducted this year after traveling from Kenya to accept his honor.
  • Bria Sands (Women's Track and Field): A six-time NAIA All-American and three-time national champion, Sands was named the 2021 NAIA National Athlete of the Year and earned numerous Mid-South Conference honors from 2017 to 2021.
  • Megan Rom (Women's Rugby): The first four-time USA Rugby Collegiate All-American in Life U history, Rom led the team to national titles and was a finalist for the MA Sorenson Award. She also represented the U.S. Women's National Team in test matches against New Zealand and England.
  • 2000 Life University Men's Rugby Super League Championship Team: This iconic squad captured the USA Rugby Super League National Championship, placing Life U firmly on the map as a premier force in American rugby. With players from eight nations—many of whom went on to become Doctors of Chiropractic—the team blended athletic excellence with Life U's academic mission.

Membership to the Hall of Fame may include student-athletes, coaches or administrators who have been nominated and meet eligibility criteria. Teams that are exceptionally distinguished through outstanding achievement or significant accomplishment may also be considered. An alumnus is eligible for nomination at any time beginning five years after graduating from Life University. Coaches and administrators who are not Life University alumni shall be eligible beginning five years after leaving the university. Coaches and administrators shall be eligible based on accomplishments or contributions to the program.

Nominations must be on the appropriate form, which can be found here and should be supported by accurate and specific information: Hall of Fame Nomination Form, including justification for induction. Self-nominations or unsigned/anonymous nominations will not be accepted.

Nominations should be submitted by August 1st to be considered for the 2026 Class of Inductees. Voting will be done immediately after in order to provide inductees ample time to be notified and make plans to attend the ceremony. Nominators will also be invited to attend the ceremony.
