NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Life University Track and Field team continued its indoor season at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Junior runner Emeline Delaville shined as she became number two all-time in NAIA for the 600 meter dash.
Delaville was the highlight for the women's team on the track side with an impressive first-place performance in the 600 meters, running a time of 1:29.52 and placing herself first overall in NAIA. This performance also qualified as an A-standard time, while placing Delaville 2nd all-time in NAIA history.
In the final event of the evening on Saturday, the relay team of Kamarra Trisch, Laisha Hernandez, Najah Gibson and Delaville teamed up for a ninth-place finish in the 1600 meter relay. The ladies finished in a time of 3:52.42, placing them number three in the NAIA this season and earned them a B-standard qualification.
On the men's side of the track, Senior Sean Hewitt had the best individual performance after placing fifth in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:21.19. In the 800, Senior Abedelemejid Kerebo and Freshman Arthur Drugeon, while not placing in the top 10 in overall meet standings, were able to put together great results. The two Running Eagles athletes ran 1:53.56 and 1:53.90 respectively to place them both in the top 10 (seventh and ninth) of NAIA rankings so far this season. Freshman Josh McKinlay also ran a top 10 (fifth) ranking NAIA time this weekend after running 4:15.04 in the men's mile.
Backtracking to the end of day one, a relay team of Kerebo, Drugeon, McKinlay and Justin Ducote competed in the men's distance medley relay. The Running Eagles ran a time of 10:11.76 to finish fourth overall at the meet and move up to third in the NAIA rankings. Finally, in the last race of the second day the men put together a team of Alejandro Ramos, Sammy Samuel, Hewitt, and Samuel Piquant to compete in the 1600 meter relay. The Running Eagles went on to finish 8th overall running a time of 3:20.43
On the field side, Braden Deal placed sixth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters, while his teammate Noam Boulanger placed tenth with a mark of 1.88 meters. In the sand, junior Khalil Carr finished eighth overall in the invitational portion of the men's long jump with a mark of 6.96 meters.
