MARIETTA, Ga. — Life University women's rugby standout Bella Vogel has been named a nominee for the 2026 World Rugby Women's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year award after making an immediate impact with the United States Women's Eagles in her first international season.
Vogel is one of four players shortlisted for the award, joining Pauline Barrat of France, Elinor-Plum King of New Zealand and Amelia Whitaker of Australia. The award recognizes emerging players who have made an outstanding impact on the international stage during their debut year.
Since making her USA Eagles debut in April during the Pacific Four Series against New Zealand, Vogel has earned nine international caps and scored 68 points for the United States, averaging more than seven points per appearance. Her versatility has allowed her to contribute at fly-half, center and in the back row as she continues to establish herself on the international stage.
At Life University, Vogel has built an impressive collegiate résumé as a two-time All-American and a key contributor to the Running Eagles' championship success. She helped Life U capture the 2026 CRAA 7s National Championship and the CRAA 15s National Championship, while also earning multiple National Player of the Week honors throughout her collegiate career.
Life University head coach Ryszard Chadwick praised Vogel's development and her accomplishments on the international stage.
"Bella's growth at Life University has been special to watch. She arrived with talent and a work ethic that set her apart, and she's developed into a dynamic, high-impact player who can influence a game from the back field, flyhalf, or center," said Chadwick. "Seeing her become the first USA Women's Eagle ever shortlisted for World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year is a huge moment for her, for our program, and for American women's rugby. It shows what happens when a player commits to the process and a program builds a clear pathway to the international stage. We're incredibly proud of her. More to come."
Vogel's nomination adds to a decorated career with the Running Eagles and highlights the continued impact of Life University rugby athletes on the international game.
World Rugby will announce the winner following the players' final WXV Global Series matches. The organization will also unveil the Women's 15s Dream Team of the Year on Monday, Nov. 2, recognizing the standout performers of the 2026 international season.
