CLEMSON, SC - The Life University Track and Field team continued their indoor season at the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson University on Friday and Saturday. The team sent out just four athletes to compete against a stack field of competitors but turned in multiple big results in the form of two NAIA A-Standard performances.
On the women's side, freshman Shevaughn Thomas ran 24.51 in the 200 meters, competing confidently against athletes from major Division I programs and showing continued development as the indoor season progresses. Her time earns her an automatic qualifying mark and ranks 10th in the NAIA this season. In the field events, junior Zaria Bonafede recorded a season-best mark of 5.44m (17-10¼) in the long jump, demonstrating consistency and technical growth in a deep and talented field.
The men also made their presence felt, highlighted by freshman Josh Mckinlay's impressive single A-standard performance in the mile. McKinlay finished 4th overall and clocked a personal-best 4:05.97 in one of the meet's most competitive distance races, positioning himself well among experienced runners from powerhouse programs. His breakthrough performance signals strong progression as he ranks 5th in the NAIA this season. In the men's shot put junior Christian Dixon finished 11th overall after throwing a mark of 15.50 meters.
Overall, Life University athletes showcased resilience, earned valuable experience, and continued building momentum as the indoor season advances.
Up next, the Running Eagles will be competing in Gainesville, Fla. at the Southern States Athletic Conference indoor track and field competition. The competition will take place on Friday, February 20th, and Saturday, February 21st.
