MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University Track and Field team hosted its first full home meet since the 2022-23 season on Saturday morning and afternoon. The meet boasted a single A-Standard from Emeline Delaville and multiple B-Standard performances across the team.
The reigning NAIA National Track Athlete of the Week Emeline Delaville once again had a stand-out performance. Following up on her previous 600m and 800m A-Standard times, the junior turned in an automatic qualifying time in the women's 1000m, racing to a first-place finish (2:55.33). Teammate Najah Gibson recorded a B-Standard time of 1:34.10 in the women's 600m, winning the event. Laisha Hernandez placed second (1:39.85), Carmen Crawford placed third (1:41.08) and Maelle Spiegel placed fourth (1:41.72).
Abedelemejid Kerebo earned a B-Standard finish in the men's 600m, racing to a 1:20.47. Teammate Sean Hewitt and Arthur Druegon were directly behind, narrowly missing B-Standards of their own with times of 1:21.28 and 1:21.95. Justine Ducote (1:22.05) and Khalil Carr (1:25.53) earned fifth and seventh place finishes respectively.
In the men's high jump, Life U recorded a pair of B-Standard heights. Keondre Glover won the event with a best height of 2.04m while Braden Deal placed third with the exact same height of 2.04m.
Khalil Carr recorded a B-Standard distance of 7.20m in the men's long jump. Jacoby Puckett placed third (6.90m) in the event.
In the men's shot put, Darius Barge recorded a B-Standard distance of 16.20m. Barge has multiple A-Satndards on the year. Christian Dixon placed third (14.72m) while Winston Sanders placed seventh (12.50m) and Akinwale Dare placed eighth (12.48m). In the weight toss, Sanders recorded a B-Standard distance of 18.41m on his opening toss. Dixon earned sixth (16.88m), Barge placed seventh (16.71m) and Dare placed ninth (15.19m).
Zaria Bonafede narrowly placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.77. Sophomore Payton Knowles placed directly behind Bonafede, earning third-place (7.93).
Josh Mckinlay won the men's mile with a time of 4:14.86. Elie Penitzka recorded a third place finish in the event with a time of 4:35.24. In the men's 3000m, Julien Jansen took home the win with a time of 8:58.02 while McKinlay placed second (9:08.63) and Abedeleselam Kerebo placed third (9:09.21).
In the men's 60m dash, Samuel Piquant was the top placing finisher for the Running Eagles, placing third (6.93). Sammy Samuel placed eighth in the event with a time of 7.02. In the 200m, Samuel placed fourth with a 22.07 while Piquant placed sixth (22.16). Jamario result earned a top-ten finish in the event with a 22.28.
Alejandro Ramos Veglio placed third in the men's 400m with a time of 50.33. Lasse Klopprogge earned a second-place finish in the men's 5000m with a time of 16:31.32.
Oumy Gaye earned a third-place finish in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.28m.
In the women's shot put, Ava Falite earned a third-place finish with a best toss of 11:09m. Teammate Sandra DeSouza earned an eight-place finish with a best toss of 10.19m on her third attempt. Annalise Leitner narrowly placed second in the women's weight toss with a best mark of 14.84m on her final throw. Falite placed eighth (12.40m) and Desouza placed ninth (12.08m).
Gresyon Myers won the men's pole vault with a best height of 3.96m.
In the women's 200m, Life U took home third and fifth place with Kamarra Trisch racing a 26.04 while Knowles clocked in at 26.14.
Up next, the Running Eagles travel back to Clemson for the Tiger Paw Invitational on Saturday, February 13th.
