Coach Tom is entering his fourth season at Life University. Over the past three years, the program has grown significantly—from just 3 men and 6 women to over 20 men and 18 women. During that time, the men’s team has produced six All-American performances and broken 18 team records. Last season, they finished 5th at conference and 11th at nationals. The women’s team has broken seven team records and sent seven different swimmers to nationals over the past three seasons. They’ve also won the Athletic GPA Award three years in a row.Â
Coach Tom holds an MBA from Grand Canyon University and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University, where he also competed as a collegiate swimmer for four years and began his coaching career. With over 50 years of involvement in the sport and 40 years of coaching experience, he has led athletes at the summer league, USA Swimming, high school, and collegiate levels—including at programs like Swim Florida. Several of his swimmers have qualified for national championships and the U.S. Olympic Trials. He has been named Southwest Florida High School Coach of the Year four times.Â
Coach Tom’s philosophy centers on staying balanced, training with intention, and enjoying the process.Â
Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Coach Tom now lives in Alpharetta, Georgia, with his wife and two stepchildren. He also has a daughter, a son, and three grandchildren.Â
