8/29/12, Marietta, GA - It was an incredible year for Life University's Division I-A team, and yet it was still a great surprise to see the Running Eagles ranked no. one in RUGBYMag.com's pre-season rankings and ahead of rugby powerhouses Arkansas State, Cal and BYU.

LIFE celebrated major victories last season when they won the inaugural USA Rugby Collegiate Sevens national championship in December, and the Las Vegas Invitational in February. In April, the Running Eagles reached the semifinals at the 3rd Annual USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship in Philadelphia. It was a whirlwind of wins for LIFE and the Marietta campus is still pumped from the excitement of last season with hopes for another great year ahead.

According to RUGBYMag.com, Arkansas State was a very close no. 2 behind LIFE; however, the Running Eagles took out the Red Wolves, 30-14, in March to win the 2012 Mid-South Conference Championship, giving them the edge in pre-season rankings.
