MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Life University (0-2) dropped a close one 74-69 to Faulkner in their final game of the Jimmy Faulkner Classic on Saturday.

Anthony Maxwell said. "That's what I look for. We don't have to be great right now. I look forward to a few good practice days this next week."
Three Running Eagles posted double-digit points on the night. Sophomore
Lucy Stone paced the squad with 17 points, as well as two rebounds, an assist and a steal. Senior
Kennesha Nichols logged her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds, in addition to five steals. Junior
Sydney Garnigan contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.

The game began with a tightly contested first quarter that saw two ties and three lead changes. Faulkner ran out to a 5-2 lead, but the Running Eagles answered and went up 7-5 in short order. Life U would run their lead up 13-8 at its height. They would lead 18-15 as the first period expired.

The Running Eagles carried their momentum in the second quarter and pushed their lead back out to five at 22-17 early in the period. However, Faulkner battled back and retook the lead 26-22 with just over four minutes left in the half. They would extend they're lead to six points and take a 32-26 advantage into the intermission.

The opening quarter of the second half saw Life U come out hot, erase the first half deficit and take a 33-32 lead just three minutes in. They pushed the lead to 40-35 at its largest. The lead was not safe, though, as Faulkner fought back and retook the lead 42-40. From that point on, the Eagles never trailed and ran the deficit up to 50-40. The Running Eagles trimmed the lead to 56-52 headed into the final quarter.

Life U managed to keep the game close in the fourth quarter, pulling within one point of the lead multiple times. However, they were unable to top Faulkner, who claimed a 74-69 victory.

The Running Eagles are back in action on Nov. 1 as they travel to Macon, Ga. to face off against Middle Georgia State.
