Life U Knocks Off Middle Georgia State 87-78

MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (6-4) knocked of Middle Georgia (3-6) at home on Monday night.
 
"I think we are really turning the corner and becoming a well- balanced team," Head Coach Anthony Maxwell said. "We still have some cleaning up to do defensively, but I like the ball movement we have now. Twenty-Nine and 26 assists in the last two games is impressive!"
 
Four Running Eagles posted double digits in the win. Sophomore Lucy Stone paced the squad with 22 points as well as eight assists, four rebounds and three steals. Junior Sydney Garnigan logged 17 point with five rebounds and four assists. Senior Kennesha Nichols added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, as well as four steals, three assists and a block. Sophomore Tierra Lindsey contributed 12 points, six assists, three rebounds, three steals and a block.
 
The first quarter was an extremely tight affair that featured six lead changes and three ties. Life got things started as Garnigan drained a three-pointer to take an early 3-0 lead. The Knights responded quickly and took their first lead of the game at 5-3. From there it was a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to gain more than a five-point lead. The Running Eagles closed out the period on a 4-0 run to take a 20-17 lead.
 
Life U continued their momentum and held the lead for the remainder of the game. They extended their lead to its largest of the half at 34-27 with 3:15 left in the half. They eventually took a 46-39 lead into the half.
 
The Running Eagles kept it rolling out of the intermission. They pushed their lead out to 56-47 with 5:17 left in the period, and took a 65-59 lead into the fourth quarter.
 
The fourth quarter saw Life U continue to build its lead. The took their largest lead of the game at 74-61 with 8:15 minutes left. They eventually took the win 87-78.
 
The Running Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 9 as they play host to Talladega.
