No. 11 Life U Knocks Off No. 6 Emmanuel On Senior Day
Women's Wrestling / 12.05.17
MARIETTA, Ga. – No. 11 Life University knocked off No. 6 Emmanuel on Senior Day 26-20. In total, the Running Eagles won six out of 10 matches, with four coming on technical falls.
"To get a team win on our first ever Senior Night is a great milestone for the team," Head Coach
Ashley Sword said. "At the beginning of season we asked the ladies to each come up with a team goal. Without fail, every athlete stated that they wanted to bring home a team win on Senior Night. To be able to meet that goal is a great thing for the team. The team and the crowd continued to build each other up throughout the entire dual, and we fed off of that energy every moment. We are so proud, not only of the way the ladies wrestled, but to be able to honor our first ever senior class. We will miss them sorely after this year, but are excited to see them walk across the stage in June."
"Tonight was a visual for our girls that hard work produces success," Assistant Coach
Christian Flavin said. "Effort will remain our focus and victories will take care of themselves. We still have a lot to work on before nationals, but this is definitely a confidence boost moving forward."
Before the dual got underway, seniors
Nadine Fiege,
Alanda Nguyen,
Tyesha Topps and
Destiny Robinson-Crawl were recognized as the first graduating class of the women's wrestling program.
In the 123-pound division,
