MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (5-3) managed to hold on and knock off NCAA Division II Shaw (1-3-1) 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in front of a vocal home crowd of 175.

"While I'm sure our fans like these exciting games, they are a little too exciting for my liking," Head Coach
Alex Pama said jovially. "Defensively, we have some things we need to clean up. It's a good thing we are scoring three or four goals a game, however we are giving up an average of two goals. But, those are individual mistake and things that we can fix. The good news is we are creating nine or 10 good opportunities to score. While it's exciting to watch us play, we would like to get some more comfortable wins for my health and the health of our staff."

Both sophomore
Wessley Soronellas and freshman
Thierry Jules led the squad with two goals apiece. The Running Eagles outshot the Bears 23-16, with 10 shots on goal compared to eight. Freshman

Â
The match began as a defensive struggle in the early goings. Soronellas cracked the seal with a goal at 20'. Shaw scored the equalizer at 32', and then took their first lead at 38'. The Bears took a 2-1 lead into the half.
Â
Life U seemed to have their kinks worked out going into the final period. They tied the game back at 2-2 when Jules got his first goal of the day on an assist from freshman
Marek Beno at 61'. A short while later, the Running Eagles retook the lead as Soronellas as scored on a pass from Beno at 64'. One minute later, Jules found the back of the net to increase the lead to 4-2 at 65'. However, Shaw would not go away quietly as the battled back and cut the lead to one with a goal at 72'. Life U tightened up on defense and Hosseini made what would be a game-saving save at 77' to seal the victory 4-3.
