LEBANON, Tenn. –No. 25 Life University (15-6, 3-2 MSC) edged out Cumberland (8-11, 1-4 MSC) 69-68 on Saturday.

Keith Adkins said. "We definitely didn't play our best game tonight, but give our guys a ton of credit. They hung in there, battled and found a way to win. Hopefully we can build on this and build some momentum."

Undra Mitchem posted a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds, with two assists and two steals. Senior
Ivan Benkovic also contributed 11 points and two rebounds.
In a game that was a tale of two halves, Life U took and an early lead at 5-4 held it for most of the half. However, they never got more than five points ahead. With under seven minutes left in the period, the teams traded the lead five times with one tie as the Phoenix came out with a 33-29 advantage going into the break.
CU used the momentum from the first half to control the pace in the second half. They opened the final period on a 9-0 run to take a 40-32 lead. The Running Eagles trimmed to the lead to a single possession and kept it there for the majority of the half. However, Cumberland managed to rebuild its lead to its largest of the night at 66-57 with just under three minutes left. Life U would not say die though as they roared back to tie the game at 67-67 with 37 seconds left. With just three seconds left,
David Scott drained a layup to complete the comeback and give Life U the 69-68 victory.
The Running Eagles will continue their road trip as they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio on Thursday, Jan. 25 to face off against Shawnee State.
