PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Life University (7-10, 0-5 MSC) fell 98-54 to No. 4 Shawnee State (19-3, 6-0 MSC) on Thursday.
"We lost to a really good Shawnee State team tonight," Head Coach
Anthony Maxwell said. "They are a smart, physical team that really play well together. We really need to learn the team concept and how to compete every possession."
Two Running Eagles finished in double digits on the night. Freshman
Maeisha Teasley paced the squad with a career-high 15 points as well as two rebounds and two steals. Sophomore
Tierra Lindsey put up 10 points with five steals, a rebound, an assist and a block. Senior
Kennesha Nichols posted seven points in addition to 11 rebounds, four steals, an assist and a block. Sophomore
Lucy Stone contributed seven points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Life U took their only lead of the game midway through the first quarter with a 7-4 advantage. From there, SSU quickly took over and closed out the first quarter with a 23-16 lead. The second quarter was no different, as the Bears went up by double figures to stay at 30-20. They held a 47-21 lead going into the break.
Shawnee State continued to build their lead in the second half. They took a 78-32 lead headed into the final 10 minutes, and closed out the game with a 98-54 victory.
The Running Eagles will end this four-game road trip on Saturday, Jan. 27 as they travel to Pikeville, Ky. to take on Pikeville.
