"This loss is a lesson in refocusing for the team," head coach
Ashley Sword stated. "There were times that we were winning matches and got pinned or where we did not stay focused in positions that we should be capitalizing on. What we take away from this dual are not only important lessons on what to work on, but important reminders about who we are. In every match, the team was engaged and supportive. During Pantoja's win at 191, even though the team couldn't win the dual, the ladies were still excited and supportive and that speaks volumes about them. Additionally, we did not see a lot of mistakes repeated from previous losses, we saw new mistakes. This means the team is continuing to learn and grow. We will always need to improve, but it is encouraging to see that we are not making the same mistakes over and over. Pantoja's win at 191 was not only exciting to watch as a team, but it was exciting as a coach to see her opening up her offense and winning by a large margin. We'll use this time off of competition to refocus and adjust as we head look toward a very busy part of our season."
The women's wrestling program will return to action on Wednesday, November 28, when they travel to Franklin Springs, Ga. to face Emmanuel College in a dual at 6 PM.
