GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Life University (9-15, 1-9 MSC) dropped a 53-50 heartbreaker to Georgetown (8-17, 2-8 MSC) in an overtime thriller.

Ashawnte Hawkins said. "We fell short, clawing our way through overtime. We missed some important free throws and much needed rebounding opportunities to help seal the deal down the stretch.
Kennesha Nichols played big for us tonight, coming out with a double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds.
Sydney Garnigan stepped up tonight, giving us 11 points and 4 steals. Overall, these ladies put their hearts out there tonight, but yet we still have some work to do with closing out games down the stretch."
Two Running Eagles finished in double digits on the night. Senior
Kennesha Nichols paced the squad with a double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds as well as an assist, a block and a steal. Junior
Sydney Garnigan put up 11 points with four rebounds, four steals and two assists.
The opening quarter was a tight period with five lead changes and a tie. Life U jumped out to an early 7-4 lead. The Tigers would battle back and take the lead 14-12 going into the second quarter. They held on to the lead for the entire 10 minutes, and pushed out to their largest lead of the half at 19-14. GC took a 21-20 lead into the break.
After the intermission, the Running Eagles went to work regaining the lead and went up their largest lead of the game at 30-23. Georgetown fought back and retook a 35-32 lead going into the final 10 minutes. The fourth quarter was the closest quarter of the game with four lead changes and three ties. The two teams traded points back and forth for most of the quarter. The score was knotted up at 42-42 as time expired in regulation.
The Tigers scored forth in overtime, but Life U wouldn't go down easily as they forced a tie and briefly took the lead. The two teams battled back and forth, but GC made the shots when they needed to and took the 53-50 victory.
The Running Eagles will return home for a three-game homestand as they welcome Talladega College on Monday, Feb. 12.
