MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (9-12) fell 66-62 to Faulkner (18-5) on Saturday.

Two Running Eagles finished in double digits on the day. Junior
Sydney Garnigan paced the squad with 15 points in addition to two rebounds and two steals. Sophomore
Tierra Lindsey put up 14 points with four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Sophomore
Kayla Kelly finished just one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds as well as an assist and a steal.
Life U stumbled out of the gate as Faulkner opened on a 15-5 run to open the game. However, they battled back and trimmed the lead to 21-18 going into the second quarter. In the final 10 minutes of the half, the Running Eagles gained momentum and took their first lead of the game at 23-21 under a minute into the period. They pushed out to a 27-21 lead and took a 27-23 lead into the break.
After the intermission, Life U went up by their largest lead of the game at 33-23. Faulkner refused to go down without a fight as they cut the lead to 39-38 with just over three minutes left and tied the game 41-41 going into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, things grew very tight with seven ties. Faulkner took the lead 43-31 in the opening moments of the final period. While the Running Eagles were able to the score multiple times in the final minutes, they were never able to retake the lead. Faulkner managed to survive, and took a 66-62 victory.
"We have to forget this one and get ready for ninth-ranked Lindsey Wilson on Monday," said Maxwell.
Life U will be back in action on Monday, Feb. 5 as they travel to Columbia, Ky. to face off against No. 9 Lindsey Wilson.
