MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's soccer team nearly came back at home to two-time USCAA National Champions Florida National University, as the Running Eagles fell 3-2 Thursday night.
NOTES
• FNU improved to 1-0 on the year, while Life U fell to 0-2.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Martin Cortes and
Khalil Toure each added goals in the match. The goals were the first for each this season.
•
Shingirai Chabika picked up his first assist of the year as well.
• Nicolas Micoli, Rodrigo Costa and Pedro Veiga each scored for FNU with Costa adding a pair of assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first 45 minutes ended scoreless, however FNU had quite a few chances at goal.
• Life U keeper Zakarija tallied four saves in the first half, and defender Bivens had three blocks in the box.
• The Running Eagles picked up their first shot on frame just before the half from Diaz, as the score remained 0-0 at the break.
• 16 minutes into the second half, Costa put FNU ahead 1-0 on a bending shot from the top of the box that found the upper left corner.
• Five minutes later, Cortes connected successfully on a penalty to tie the game at one.
• FNU went ahead 2-1 four minutes later on a goal from Micoli that was assisted by Costa.
• Veiga connected from inside the box on a cross from Costa to put FNU ahead 3-1.
• Seconds before the end of the match, Toure found the back of the net after a pass from Chabika to bring the score to its final, 3-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• FNU outshot Life U 14-2 in the first half, however the Running Eagles held an 8-6 advantage in the second half.
• Life U had a 5-2 advantage over FNU in saves.
• FNU led with eight shots on frame, while Life U had four.

• The Running Eagles will return to action on Friday, August 31 when they travel to McKenzie, Tenn. to face Bethel University. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 PM.
