MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's soccer team came from behind to earn a tie against (RV) Southeastern University 3-3 late Thursday night.
NOTES
• Despite trailing 3-1 in the second half, Life U came back to tie the game with a pair of goals from
Thierry Jules.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Jules had quite the performance with 11 total shots in the game and seven on frame. He scored on a penalty and a header with an assist to lead the way offensively for the Running Eagles.
•
Sergio Sereeira scored the third goal for Life U and totaled three shots with two on frame.
•
Steinar Magnusson and
Albert Nimako tallied the other two assists during the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Three minutes into the match, Southeastern scored off a corner kick for an early 1-0 lead.
• Life U tied the match in the 41
stminute as Jules played a ball through to Magnusson who lifted a cross to the back post. Sereeira leaped up and just beat the keeper to head the ball into the back of the net to tie the match at 1.
• At the half, the score remained tied 1-1.
• Southeastern took a 2-1 two minutes into the second half on a penalty from Van Der Luit.
• Van Der Luit scored his second goal of the match in the 64
thminute to put Southeastern ahead 3-1.
• Jules scored his first goal of the match in the 83
rdminute on a penalty that found the lower left corner of the goal to bring the score line to 3-2.
• In the 86
thminute of the match, Nimako lifted a cross to the back post as Jules found the connection for the equalizer to tie the game at three.
• Life U had two chances on frame in the first period of extra time, however Southeastern nearly won on a shot from distance from Jimenez that bounced off the crossbar. The score remained tied after the first ten minutes of extra time.
• Both teams had a shot on frame in the second overtime period, however neither team was able to find the golden goal as the match ended in a 3-3 tie.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Southeastern 26-18 during the match, and also led 12-8 in shots on frame.
• Southeastern held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.
• Life U outshot Southeastern in the first half 13-6.
