WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team won its third consecutive Mid-South Conference match in 3-0 fashion Thursday night on the road at the University of the Cumberlands.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 14-5 (6-2) on the year, as Cumberlands fell to 11-7 (3-5).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Zykeria Allen led the Running Eagles offensively with 13 kills.
•
Lena Pucnik totaled 12 kills and hit .500 in the sweep.
•
Marin Black totaled 13 digs for a team-high, as
Taylor Parrish added 36 assists.
Michele O'Haver added 12 digs as
Mary Zimmerman tallied six block assists and five kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cumberlands led 4-1 early in set one, however a 4-0 run was finished on a block by Furness and Parrish to give Life U a 7-6 lead. Both teams battled for the lead, but the Patriots jumped out to a 19-15 lead before another 4-0 run from the Running Eagles tied the set. A kill from Allen and a set error gave Life U the first set 25-22.
• Life U exploded out to an 11-1 lead in set two. The Running Eagles never trailed as Zimmerman recorded the final kill for the 25-15 Life U win in the second set.
• Life U led 8-6 early in set two and extended the lead to eight with a 6-0 run that was finished on a kill from Benton. Life U finished the match on a 4-1 run as a service error ended the set 25-13.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• LifeU led Cumberlands in kills 41-24. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .263 as Cumberlands finished with a .032.
• Cumberlands led Life U in aces 3-2, but the Running Eagles led the Patriots in assists 38-22.
• Life U also led Cumberlands in digs 42-39 and blocks 8-6.

• The women's volleyball team will continue Mid-South Conference play on Monday, October, 7, as they host No. 13 nationally ranked Lindsey Wilson at 6 PM. The Green Game event will feature international students night, where all attendees are encouraged to support their home country with apparel and flags.
