THOMASVILLE, Ga. ---- The (RV) Life University men's basketball team used a strong second half to seal a 72-53 road win over Thomas University Tuesday night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 5-0 on the year as Thomas fell to 2-3.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Antwan Maxwell led all scorers with 25 points. He added two blocks and five boards.
•
Malik Burnett finished in double figures for the second consecutive game with 19 points and added three steals, three assists and three rebounds.
•
Connor Gamble added 14 points during the game and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first half as Joyner finished the dunk at the 16:26 mark.
• Thomas responded to tie the game, but a pair of free-throws from Burnett halfway through the half put Life U ahead 18-12.
• An 8-0 Thomas run put the Nighthawks ahead 20-18, however Life U regained the lead for the remainder of the game. Gamble made four free-throws in the final minute as Thomas hit a three at the buzzer, but the Running Eagles went into the half ahead 39-36.
• Life U held Thomas to just three points in the first 11 minutes of the second half as a three from Burnett put the Running Eagles ahead by 16, 55-39, with 8:59 on the clock.
• Life U held a double digit lead the remainder of the game as a jumper from Reid with 1:28 on the clock finished the scoring for the Running Eagles. The second half defense prevailed as Life U earned the 72-53 win over Thomas.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 25-for-47 from the field, 53.2%, while Thomas shot 17-for-47, 36.2%.
• Life U shot 14-for-18, 77.8%, from the free-throw line as Thomas finished 11-for-12, 91.7%.
• Life U scored 21 points off the bench and finished 8-for-14 (57.1%) from beyond the arc. Life U also scored 19 points off the 21 Thomas turnovers.

• The men's basketball team will return to action on Friday, November 15, as they begin play in the Sock Fancy Classic at home. Life U will host the two-day classic in the Eagles' Nest, and match up with Piedmont International University at 7 PM on Friday.
