Women's Basketball Falls in Road MSC Contest to Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell on the road to the University of the Cumberlands 75-64 Thursday night in the Mid-South Conference game.  
 
NOTES
• Life U fell to 15-10 (4-8), as Cumberlands improved to 13-14 (1-11) on the year.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
Kiana Glenn led the Running Eagles offensively with 14 points and two boards with an assist.
Maeisha Teasley finished with 11 as she picked up a team-high six steals with four rebounds.  
Tierra Tullis also added a team-high 11 rebounds. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Life U led 6-5 early in the first quarter after a free-throw from Bentley at the six-minute mark, however this would be the only lead for the Running Eagles of the game.
• A 6-1 run from the Patriots over the next minute put Cumberlands ahead 11-7 as they held on with the lead to finish the quarter ahead 21-14 after a 10-4 run.
• Life U struggled offensively in the second quarter with only eight points as Cumberlands went into the half ahead 33-23.
• Cumberlands led by as many as 18 in the third quarter, however the Running Eagles cut the lead to a three-possession game after a 10-1 run was finished with a three from Glenn with 1:29 on the clock. Cumberlands finished the third quarter ahead by 11, 56-45.
• Life U cut the lead to single digits throughout the first five minutes, however Cumberlands led by double figures, 61-49, with 4:40 left in the game. Tullis hit a jumper with six seconds on the clock, however the Patriots would hold on to win 75-65.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 26-for-72 from the field, 36.1%, while Cumberlands shot 22-for-49, 44.9%.
• Life U shot 10-for-19, 52.6%, from the free-throw line as Cumberlands finished 25-for-35, 71.4%.
• Life U forced 18 turnovers and scored 23 points off of them. Life U also scored 31 points off the bench.
 
UP NEXT 
• The women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, February 16, as they host Florida National University at 3 PM in a non-conference matchup.
