GEORGETOWN, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team overcame a 12-point third quarter deficit to defeat Georgetown College 76-72 on the road Thursday night in Mid-South Conference play.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 14-8 (4-6) on the year, while Georgetown fell to 19-6 (4-6).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Tierra Tullis tallied a career-high 22 points as she finished 8-for-13 from the floor. She added six rebounds, two steals and an assist.
•
Sydney Garnigan also finished in double figures with 14 points and two steals.
•
Tshlene Bentley picked up 12 rebounds as
Maeisha Teasley finished with 11 points and three steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U led 9-4 early in the first quarter at the 4:50 mark. A 10-2 run from Georgetown gave the Tigers a 13-11 lead as the Running Eagles trailed by one, 13-12, at the end of the first quarter.
• A deep three from Glenn cut the Tiger lead to one, 21-20, at the 4:52 mark. A three from Adkins cut the lead to two, 26-24, with 2:08 on the clock, however Georgetown responded with an 8-0 run. Bentley scored for Life U seven seconds before the half as Life U trailed 34-26 at the half.
• Three minutes into the third quarter, Goergetown led by 12, 44-32. Life U cut the lead in half after an and-one from Teasley, 46-40.
• Teasley connected for one at the charity stripe with 1:36 on the clock to cut the Georgetown lead to one, 49-48. A jumper from Garnigan tied the game at 51 with the successful free-throw giving the Running Eagles a one-point advantage 52-51.
• Georgetown finished the third quarter on a 5-0 run to lead 56-52 heading into the fourth quarter.
• Five minutes into the fourth quarter, Georgetown led by seven, 68-61. Trailing 70-65, Life U responded with a late 8-0 run that was finished by a free-throw from Tullis that put the Running Eagles ahead 73-70 with 39 seconds on the clock.
• Teasley sealed the come from behind win for Life U with a pair of free-throws with seven seconds on the clock as the Running Eagles earned the 75-72 win over the Tigers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 23-for-62 from the field, 37.1%, while Georgetown shot 23-for-60, 38.3%.
• Life U shot 25-for-33, 75.8%, from the free-throw line as Georgetown finished 21-for-28, 75%.
• Life U forced 20 turnovers and scored 17 points off of them.
