BLUEFIELD, Va. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team defeated Cincinnati Christian University in three sets Saturday morning on the road in Mid-South Conference Action.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 12-2 (8-1), while Cincinnati Christian fell to 1-18 (1-9).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Javier Cornier finished with eight service aces, which leads the NAIA for most in a single game this year. He added four kills, a block assist and a dig.
•
Livan Moreno added a team-high 13 kills with an attacking percentage of .421 with two block assists and five digs.
•
Allain Larroche picked up three service aces and tallied 31 assists in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cincinnati Christian led early in set one 4-3, before a 5-1 run put Life U ahead 8-5 after the kill from Moreno.
• Leading 11-10, the Running Eagles finished set one with 14 consecutive points with Cornier serving. He recorded three aces in the rally as the Running Eagles took set one 25-10.
• Life U jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in set two as Gonzalez picked up the kill. The Running Eagles allowed just three more points in the set as a kill from Serrano gave Life U the 25-5 victory. This marks the largest margin of victory this season for the program.
• Set three saw Cincinnati Christian record six kills, however the Life U offense proved to be too strong as the Running Eagles earned the sweep with a 25-11 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Cincinnati Christian in kills 37-16. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .527 as Cincinnati Christian finished with a -.040.
• Life U led Cincinnati Christian in digs 19-7.
• Life U also led Cincinnati Christian in blocks 3-1.
• Life U finished with a 32-11 advantage in assists over Cincinnati Christian as well with the Running Eagles recording all 13 aces of the match.
