Women's Lacrosse Comes from Behind for Late Win over Tennessee Wesleyan

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's lacrosse team scored five goals in the final six minutes to come from behind and defeat Tennessee Wesleyan 17-16 at home Tuesday night.
 
NOTES
• Life U improved to 6-5 on the year, as Tennessee Wesleyan fell to 6-7.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
• Lauren Rielly led the way offensively for the Running Eagles with five goals and three assists.
• Jewelya Nelson provided the game-winner, and finished with four goals during the match. She added a pair of ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls as well.
• Megan Pelton, Bridgett Simmer and Skylar Clum each caused four turnovers for the defense as Julia Thompson recorded the win in goal with a career-high 16 saves.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Tennessee Wesleyan took an early 1-0 lead 20 seconds into the game, however Kallish responded thirty seconds later to tie the game at one in the first minute.
• Tennessee Wesleyan started to pull away with a 5-0 run to lead 6-1 in the 22nd minute.
• Life U responded immediately with a 6-0 run to take its first lead of the game, 7-6, after a goal from Rielly. Nelson scored a pair on the run as Beshaw and Kallish each scored as well.  
• Tennessee Wesleyan scored two goals to take an 8-7 lead, however Legaspi scored a goal with 1:14 on the clock to tie the game at eight for the break.
• Bader opened up the scoring for Life U in the second half to give the Running Eagles a 9-8 lead two minutes in, however Tennessee Wesleyan responded with a pair of its own goals to lead 10-9.
• Rielly scored a pair of goals to give Life U a temporary 11-10 lead. Tennessee Wesleyan responded with a 5-1 run to lead 15-12 with 7:20 remaining in the game.
• Life U finished the game on a 5-1 run to take the victory. Nelson scored with an assist from Rielly with 1:28 on the clock to seal the victory in favor of the Running Eagles.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished with 35 total shots as 28 were on frame. Tennessee Wesleyan tallied 35 shots as well with 32 on frame.
• Life U held a 16-11 advantage over Tennessee Wesleyan in saves.
• Life U was 23-of-28 on clears during the game as Tennessee Wesleyan finished 19-of-26.
• Tennessee Wesleyan committed 33 turnovers in the game as Life U finished with 29.
• Life U picked up 30 ground balls compared to the 21 from Tennessee Wesleyan. Tennessee Wesleyan led Life U 30-21 in draw controls throughout the game.

• The women's lacrosse team will return to action on Thursday, April 11, as they host No. 1 nationally ranked SCAD-Savannah on Lupo Family Field at 6 PM.
