MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team struggled defensively Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to Georgetown College in Mid-South Conference play.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 11-5 (3-3) on the year, as Georgetown improved to 9-9 (3-1).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Zykeria Allen led the Running Eagles offensively with eight kills.
•
Taylor Parrish finished with 14 assists as
Brie Montgomery tallied nine.
•
Marin Black totaled 25 digs for a team-high, as
Alia Dorland finished with 11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U tied the set at eight after a kill from Zimmerman, however Georgetown finished the match on a 17-2 run to take the first set 25-10.
• Georgetown held an early 5-2 lead in set two, before a quick 4-0 run was finished by back-to-back aces from Allen to give Life U a 6-5 lead. Both teams battled for the lead and a kill from Allen late in the set cut the Running Eagle deficit to one, 22-21. The Tigers ended the second set on a 3-0 burst recording a block to earn the 25-21 victory.
• Life U jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in set three and led by as many as ten, 15-5. A 7-0 run from the Tigers cut the lead to just three. Georgetown used a late 7-1 run to lead 23-20 before a kill from Allen cut the lead to two. The Tigers were able to finish the match 25-21 to earn the three-set sweep over the Running Eagles.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Georgetown led Life U in kills 41-27. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .000 as Georgetown finished with a .242.
• Life U led Georgetown in aces 4-1, but the Tigers led the Running Eagles in assists 36-24.
• Life U committed 27 attacking errors to the 12 from Georgetown.
