WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ---- The Life University Men's Basketball team would fall to the (RV) University of the Cumberlands Patriots 43-82 on Saturday.
The Running Eagles would would fall to 10-8, and 1-4 in the conference. The men, who had a slow start early in the first half, would play catchup, as the Patriots would have a 9-0 lead for the first four and a half minutes of the game. Cam Horton and Antwan Maxwell would combine for the first 11 points that the Running Eagles scored.
The lead would stay at a modest four points; but after a shot from behind the arc from the Patriots' Tevin Olison, it would extend to seven. Maxwell and Jeremy Joyner would be an asset in the post, keeping the score gap in single digits. However, as the first half would come to an end, the Patriots would extend their lead from nine to 19, and leading as much as 21.Â
Coming into the second half, the Running Eagles would struggle to keep up with the Patriots early. A steal from Mike White would be a turning point, followed by efforts from freshman, Alex Bean, in the post. Offensive efforts from the men would be stagnant, as University of the Cumberlands would add onto their lead as the half progressed.Â
Highlighted performances include Alex Bean, who finished the game with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Cam Horton, with 9 points and 3 steals. James Leible would tally 5 boards for the men off of the bench.Â
