WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ---- Life University women's basketball would lose to the University of the Cumberlands Patriots 71-86 on Saturday.

The Running Eagles would would fall to 7-8, and 0-5 in the conference. The Patriots would advance to 15-2 and 3-1 in the conference. The women would stay in close quarters with the Patriots in the early minutes of the game. A three-pointer from Tierra Tullis would close the scoring gap to two points during the first quarter.

The Patriots would start the second quarter with back-to-back steals, extending their lead to 15 points. The Running Eagles would allow 15 turnovers, giving the Patriots a lead as large as 17 points in the second quarter. Shikiya Brown would lead in scoring with eight points at the end of the first half. The Running Eagles would cut down the lead to 14 to close out the first half 43-29.

After the half, the Patriots would lead by 20 points at the 6-minute mark, the largest lead of the night. However, Kiana Glenn would change the momentum for the Running Eagles with a three-pointer to answer. The women would pick up the pace defensively after steals from Maeisha Teasley and Tierra Tullis, in the final minutes of the third. 

The women would enter the fourth quarter battling to close the lead. The scoring gap would stay above ten points. However, trips to the free throw line would prove favorable for the Running Eagles. The score would be as close as six points, but University of the Cumberlands would keep their lead to the final seconds of the game.

Standout performances came from Guard Tierra Tullis, with 17 points, and 3 steals.  Sydni Tears would finish with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Tierra Lindsey and  Maeisha Teasley would finish with 4 steals a piece.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Life U shot 37.3% from the field to Cumberlands' 51.7%. 
  • The Running Eagles were 55.6% from outside of the arc. Kiana Glenn would shoot 3-6 from the outside in the final minutes of the game. The Patriots would be 47.1% from the 3-Point Line.
  • The Patriots would shoot 78% from the free-throw line to Life U's 59%.
