Running Eagles Keep Pace with Campbellsville but Fall 70-80

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. — The Men traveled to Campbellsville on Thursday, where they were thought to be out before the second half even started.

The Men played immediately following the first game of the double-header. The Running Eagles and Campbellsville started a shooting match early on, and it looked to be in favor of the Tigers.

The struggle was not getting shots up, but rather getting shots to fall. The Running Eagles would shoot 44 times in the first half. Of those 44 shots, only 15 would find their way through the rim.

Despite this, the score would stay within a ten point deficit. Entering the second half, Campbellsville would look to extend their lead. The Men would take a blow with a Technical Foul at the 17-minute mark, but they would rally back to chop a 14-point deficit down to just nine under ten minutes.

Efforts from Antwan Maxwell and Jeremy Joyner in the paint would be beneficial in cutting the score margin down to seven points. Unfortunately, they would not be able to cut it down any more. Campbellsville would close out the game winning 80-70.

The Men would outscore the Tigers in the second half, although a determinant that could have changed the direction of the game would be free throws. The men would shoot 78.6% in the second half to Campbellsville's 86.7%.

Anthony Maxwell would finish with 15 points, three assists and five rebounds, while Joyner would finish with eight points and 10 boards. Connor Gamble and Tory Ferguson would finish in double digits as well with 11 and 10 points respectively.
