MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The (RV) Life University men's basketball team picked up its first Mid-South Conference win of the season with a 72-57 upset over No. 19 Lindsey Wilson at home Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 10-6 (1-2) on the year as Lindsey Wilson fell to 12-4 (1-1).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Antwan Maxwell finished with a game-high 24 points to lead the Running Eagles. He added seven rebounds with a block and a steal.
•
Jeremy Joyner added a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds with two assists.
•
Cam Horton finished with 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams started out slow offensively as a layup from Joyner in the paint gave Life U a 6-4 lead six minutes into the game.
• The two teams traded points back and forth as a layup from Bean put Life U ahead by three, 13-10, with 9:50 on the clock.
• A short 5-0 run put Lindsey Wilson ahead by four, 21-25 with just under five minutes remaining in the half. Horton scored the final basket of the half with a three as Life U trailed 28-26 at the break.
• Life U exploded for a 16-2 run to start the second half after a completed and-one opportunity from Joyner with 14:34 on the clock. A three from Hernandez a minute later put the Running Eagles ahead by 15, 47-32.
• Lindsey Wilson used a 9-0 run to cut the lead to seven, 51-44, with 9:46 on the clock.
• Life U answered back to lead 54-44, however a short 6-0 run cut the Running Eagle lead to just four, 54-50 with 5:41 in the game.
• Life U scored eight unanswered to take a double digit lead for the remainder of the game. Life U held on to earn the 72-57 upset over the Blue Raiders.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 25-for-55 from the field, 45.5%, while Lindsey Wilson shot 21-for-54, 38.9%. The Running Eagles shot 5-for-19, 26.3%, from beyond the arc as Lindsey Wilson finished 4-for-23, 17.4%.
• Life U shot 17-for-24, 70.8%, from the free-throw line as Lindsey Wilson finished 11-for-13, 84.6%.
• Life U scored 30 points in the paint and 18 points off of 13 turnovers. Lindsey Wilson totaled 32 points in the paint and seven from the bench.

• The men's basketball team will return to action on Monday, January 6, as they continue Mid-South Conference play and host Campbellsville University at 8 PM in the Eagles' Nest.
