Women’s Volleyball Stays Perfect with Sweep of Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. ---- The Running Eagles played strong at the net on the road Friday night, collecting 14 blocks in a straight-set sweep of Brewton-Parker.

NOTES
• Life U ran away with the first two sets (25-16, 25-10), before needing extra vollies to take the third set 26-24 on its way to a 3-0 victory to move to 3-0 on the season.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Carla Narvaez led all players with eight kills.
Mary Zimmerman pitched in seven kills, while also standing tall at the net for a game-high 5 block assists.
• Setter, Taylor Rubtsov nearly tripled the Baron's assist count (10) on her own with 28.
Marin Black again led the team in digs, gathering 21 on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the first set, the Running Eagles and Barons fought neck and neck through the first 20 serves, the majority of both team's scores coming via error. From down 8-11, a Lena Pucnik and Zimmerman combo block sparked an 8-0 run as the Life took control of the match. A Pucnik kill and and Black service ace ended the set 25-16.
• Life U ran out to a quick 5-0 lead in the second set, two of the points coming off well placed serves by Michele O'Harver as the Running Eagles ended the set quickly, 25-10.
• The final set was a back-and-forth struggle. From a 9-10 deficit, a four-volley run capped by a Narvaez kill earned the team a 13-10 lead. The Baron's charged back to take an 18-15 lead, before moving to set point at 24-22. The Running Eagles came through in the clutch though, taking four-straight to win the final set 26-24, the penultimate and final kills coming from the hands of Zimmerman and then Fayola Louis.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U enjoyed a one-sided advantage in kills, blocks, and assists outdoing the Barons 36-12, 8-2, and 31-10, respectively. This led to the Running Eagles earning a much better .196 attack percentage compared to Brewton-Parker's paltry -.056 percentage.
• Life outgained the Barons in aces 9-6 and digs 57-39.
