CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team held its own against No. 14 Thomas More Saturday afternoon, but the Saints pulled away shooting 41% from beyond the arc for the 83-71 win.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 2-3 (0-2) on the year, while Thomas More improved to 6-0 (2-0).
• Despite the scoreline, Life U finished a season-high 47.6% from the field. The difference maker was the long distance shot as Life U made four 3's to the 16 from Thomas More.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Sydni Tears led the Running Eagles offensively with a game-high 25 points. She added five rebounds with three assists and two steals.
•
Skyler Hatfield also finished in double figures with 12 points and a pair of steals.
Maeisha Teasley totaled 11 points with five rebounds and four steals as well.

Amara Edeh was the final Running Eagle to finish in double digits with 10 points. She tallied five rebounds with three blocks and a steal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in the game in the first quarter, however Thomas More answered back with a 12-2 run to lead 15-9 halfway through the quarter. A steal and basket from Teasley tied the game at 15 with a minute on the clock. She ended the quarter with a fast break layup as the Running Eagles trailed 18-17 after the first.
• Life U started the second quarter with a three from Daphney to take a break lead, however Thomas More responded to maintain the advantage. A 7-2 run for Life U was finished on a deep three from Hatfield halfway through the quarter to cut the lead to one, 32-31. Thomas More started to pull away connecting on three consecutive long balls to take a 43-35 lead into the half.
• Thomas More kept up the pressure extending the lead to 20, 58-38, four minutes into the quarter. Life U managed to battle back and cut the lead to 13, 65-52, as Edeh hit a jumper just before the buzzer to head into the fourth.
• The Saints maintained a double digit lead most of the fourth quarter, but the Running Eagles refused to go down without a fight cutting the lead to eight, 77-69, with 1:57 on the clock after a layup from Daphney. Thomas More finished the game perfect from the line to earn the 83-71 win over Life U.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 30-for-63 from the field, 47.6%, while Thomas More shot 24-for-69, 34.8%. The Running Eagles finished 4-for-15 from beyond the arc, as the Saints went 16-for-39, 41%.
• Life U forced 16 turnovers in the game and scored 14 points off of the chances.
• Life U outscored Thomas More 34-14 in points in the paint throughout the contest.

• The women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, December 3, as they continue Mid-South Conference action and host the University of the Cumberlands at 5:30 PM in the Eagles' Nest.
