MOUNT VERNON, Ga. ---- The No. 5 nationally ranked Life University women's wrestling team blew past Brewton-Parker College 42-4 Monday night.

The Running Eagles got the clean sweep for the dual, taking two matches via forfeit (123 lbs. and 191 lbs.), earning pins at 109 lbs. and 143 lbs. and then winning the rest with four tech falls and two decisions.

The team got off to a strong start, Unity Cordova starting the dual with a tech fall. Kory Phillips followed her up with a late pin, helping the team's lead swell to 9-0. Katalina Bartelt pulled off a tightly contested decision at 116 lbs., before Brewton-Parker forfeited the 123 lbs. match. Riley Dalrymple continued the strong start to her Life U career, earning a quick tech fall.

The rest of the match followed suit with the beginning, Briana Kellin recording a tech fall at 136. At 143, Hailey Finn came out on fire, manhandling her opponent for the quick pin. Jacquelyn Font fought hard for a decision at 155 lbs, while Jordan Nelson dominated her 11th-ranked foe on the way to a tech fall at 170 lbs. Midway through the final match, the Barons medical forfeited the 191 lbs. matchup for the final score of 42 to 4.

Head Coach Ashley Sword had this to say of the night, "Tonight we switched up the line up and a few more ladies were able to step on the mat for the first time in a Life singlet." Continuing on how busy the team has been over the past few days, "You could see some of the effects of three long days of travel and beginning of season nerves, but the ladies were able to get the job done." Looking forwards, Coach Sword said, "We've seen a lot over the last two days and have plenty to work on back in the room."

The women's wrestling team will be out of action the next couple of weeks before heading to No. 16 Indiana Tech for a conference showdown on Saturday, December 12th.
