MARIETTA, GA — The Running Eagles Women's Basketball Team took on the No. 9 Shawnee State Bears on Thursday Night. The Women would be downed 92-81.
Shawnee State would take an early lead in the first quarter, with a 6-0 run in the first two minutes of the game. The Women would play catch-up, with the Bears leading by as much as 13 in the first. In the second, the Running Eagles would close the gap, taking advantage of turnovers committed by Shawnee State.
The Women would go into the half shooting 38.5% from the field and 70% from the line. Shawnee State and Life U would be identical in the statistical category with turnovers, having eight and nine respectively, however, the Women would struggle to get shots to fall in the paint. '
Entering the third, the dynamic would move in favor of the Women, taking Shawnee State's lead down from 13 to seven. The score would fluctuate throughout the third, with the score closing out at 57-66. The Running Eagles would out score the Bears 19-13, and Tierra Tullis would lead in scoring with 18 points.
In the fourth, the Women would go down to the wire; Shawnee State would stay in the lead, and eventually hit the 90-point mark. In the final two minutes, Kiana Glenn would close the gap from 20 to 11 with back to back threes. This would prove fruitless, as the women would not be able to finish out with a win.
The Women would close out with 37 points off of turnovers to Shawnee State's 23. Life U would also outscore the Bears in points off of the bench, with 38 to 24. Shawnee State would narrowly outscore Life U in second chance points 13 to 12.
Efforts come from Tierra Tullis, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Sydni Tears and Kiana Glenn would finish with 17 points a piece. Tierra Lindsey would close out with 13 points.
