MARIETTA, GA — The Running Eagles Women's Basketball Team returned to action on Saturday where they took on the University of Pikeville Bears. The Women would close out with a win, 59-69.
The Women would start out strong, keeping pace with Pikeville. The first quarter would be low scoring, closing out 14-10; but, the Running Eagles would capitalize on the defensive end in the second quarter. Steals from Tierra Lindsey and Maeisha Teasley would swing momentum from Pikeville to the Running Eagles.
The Women would lead by three to close out the second quarter. Lindsey would lead in scoring with eight points, and five rebounds.
Entering the third, Life U would keep the momentum, leading throughout the quarter. Pikeville's Greatrex would chip at the score, giving the Bears to close out the third quarter with a one-point lead.
In the fourth, the Women would fight to get the lead back, battling in the paint. The score would fluctuate before guard, Kiana Glenn would take the lead with a shot beyond the arc. The Running Eagles would maintain the lead, and extend it to double digits.
The Women would close out with a Mid South Conference win.
Lindsey would close out with a double-double, tallying 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard, Tierra Tullis would finish with 13 points. Kiara Glenn and Shikiya Brown would also close out the game with double digits in scoring.
